EKOCYCLE and Global Citizen dropped in on SXSW 2014 to launch #ADayWithoutWaste — a program to inspire a collective shift in consumption and recycling habits. The iconic music, film and interactive festival was a perfect venue for the team to connect with creative change makers open to their message of environmental progress.
As part of the campaign fun, hundreds of attendees posed for photos with friends in a police-style lineup, after confessing their wasteful habits and pledging join in #ADayWithoutWaste. After hours, EKOCYCLE joined in Global Citizen Nights’ launch party at Emo’s Austin — headlined by The Fray, with guests Allen Stone and Saints of Valory.
EKOCYCLE, Global Citizen and the photo booth also made a showing at the HOPE Outdoor Gallery, a space for muralists, graffiti artists and community groups to create art with a positive message. All spray cans used during the event were collected, and will be melted and recycled to create a fence for the park.
