LONDON -- Online retailer Amazon recently expanded its e-commerce business in Great Brtain into grocery shopping with the launch of the Amazon Fresh delivery service. It’s the first time the service has been available to shoppers outside the U.S.

"By teaming up with Amazon Fresh, we aim to capitalize on the growth we are seeing in online shopping, especially for groceries"

As a key partner of Amazon Fresh, Coca-Cola is bringing a wide range of beverages to thousands of online shoppers across North and East London, including: Schweppes, glacéau smartwater, Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.

The partnership follows 18 months of planning with Amazon and Coca-Cola European Partners, as the company looks to integrate online grocery shopping into its long-term strategy.

Retail of the Future

The UK market for online grocery shopping is expected to nearly double in value between 2015 and 2020, according to food and grocery research body IGD.

“By teaming up with Amazon Fresh, we aim to capitalize on the growth we are seeing in online shopping, especially for groceries,” says Nikki Sale, digital shopper marketing manager at Coca-Cola Great Britain. “Amazon’s offering of same-day deliveries and strong service record allows us to offer our consumers great service and access to the products they love. It also reflects our determination to reach our consumers wherever they choose to shop.”

Amazon Fresh is available seven days a week to Amazon Prime members. Amazon guarantees same-day delivery for orders placed by 1 p.m., offering a competitive advantage over other online UK supermarkets.

Shoppers can also find goods from 50 other speciality stores, including stalls at London's Borough Market, local fishmongers and high-end chocolatiers. As Coca-Cola Great Britain grows its partnership with Amazon, even more drinks will become available over the coming months.
