Duke Dumont is the latest artist to take on the curation duties of our ‘happy’ themed playlists on Spotify.

The UK producer is no stranger to the world of music, well known as a prominent figure in the underground dance scene since 2006. Over the last two years however, his notoriety has shifted to a much wider audience, accredited to the success of his two cross-over hits ‘Need You (100%)’ and ‘I Got You. The former of those singles went on to receive a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording earlier this year.

Now seemingly always on the road, performing at festivals and clubs across the globe, we spoke to the ever-busy Duke Dumont to find out more about his forthcoming album and what life is like at the top.

  1. You recently scored your second UK number 1 single with ‘I Got U’. What are you most enjoying about your newfound chart success?

I thought I was busy before. Now I am exceptionally busy. But I’m busy doing what I love, which makes me happy.

  2. Your debut album is scheduled to be released this year. What type of record can people expect to hear?

As a musician, I am as inspired by LPs as singles. Perhaps the day of the LP is dead, but my nostalgic notion I have for the music I love, is enough for me to dedicate much of my life towards it. For me by next year, I’d like people to remember me for my albums, over my singles.

  3. Talk us through the songs on your Spotify playlist and why you chose them?

I could over complicate things here, but it’s simple because they are songs I love… old & new

  4. We believe that happiness is better shared; please can you pick a song from your playlist and tell us who you’d like to share it with?

The Beatles - All You Need Is Love. Greatest song ever written to me.

  5. Lastly, what does happiness look like for you in 2014?

To appreciate & to get to, where I need to get to xx
