Clothing Designer Nigo on New Collaboration With Coke

Nigo, founder of cult street wear label A Bathing Ape, is launching a capsule collection inspired by vintage Coca-Cola under his newest design label, Human Made. The 10-piece collection is designed by Nigo and features modern interpretations of authentic Coke vendor work wear from the early 20th century era. We checked-in with Nigo to learn a bit about his inspiration for the collection and his love for Coca-Cola.

I have been wearing Coca-Cola since back in high school – be it vintage T’s or my retro red Coke leather jacket, which is one of my most prized possessions. I was also the Japan Coca-Cola yo-yo junior champion back in the 80s, so this vintage inspired collection was a long time coming. In my studio in Tokyo, I have my favorite Coca-Cola memorabilia on display – bottle cartons, over-sized bottles and coolers – but it’s the fabrics, detailing and logos on the vintage clothing that has always caught my eye – that’s what I wanted to re-create with this new collection.
