Coca-Cola Racing Family driver Ryan Newman celebrated his 40th birthday this past weekend by giving back.

Newman was crowned the Coca-Cola Chug for Charity Champion. Since 2010, Newman, through the Chug for Charity program, has donated more than $430,000 to his charities.

Established in 2002, the program offers a unique incentive for drivers to stay refreshed with ice-cold Coca-Cola whenever they are at the track. This competition among Coca-Cola Racing Family members offers "points" for chugs, and the driver with the most points at the end of each segment earns a donation to his preferred charity in his name. The donation for each driver is totaled at the end of the year, and the driver with the largest donation is declared the Chug for Charity Champion.

Newman came out on top and will receive a donation from The Coca-Cola Company to Rescue Ranch, a charity he operates with his wife, Krissie. Rescue Ranch promotes responsible pet ownership through education, agricultural, environmental and wildlife conservation, facilitates rehabilitation and rescue. The award will be Newman’s second Chug for Charity crown.

Since 2002, Coca-Cola has donated more than $3 million to various charities on behalf of Coca-Cola Racing Family members. The participation of the family has been instrumental in the program’s success and longevity.
