Sean Weatherspoon (better known as “Spoon”) created the SPOONful of Hope Foundation in 2011 with the mission of teaching children effective life skills, helping them overcome obstacles and encouraging them to reach their full potential. It also provides financial assistance to families in need during the holidays. For this event, SPOONful of Hope selected 10 families to meet Sean and chat with him while eating lunch provided by Domino’s Pizza. The families also received gift bags with footballs, gift cards and other items to make the holiday season a little merrier.
After lunch, Sean showed the kids and their parents easy ways to build in physical activity during the holidays. It was great watching the kids run around Pemberton Place with Sean – they were so excited and you could see it in their faces.
Also, no trip to the World of Coca-Cola is complete without a tour of the attraction and photos with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear. Sean met the extremely personable Polar Bear for the first time, and it was an experience to say the least.
His tweet said it all.
I was impressed with Sean’s humble attitude and passion for helping children. He connected with all of the families, signed autographs and took pictures. He even brought his parents from Jasper, Texas, with him to meet the families.
Being part of this day gave me an overwhelming sense of pride knowing that I work for a company that supports foundations like SPOONful of Hope, and that we work with partners like Domino’s Pizza and 790 The Zone that also care about our community.
