To celebrate London symbolically passing the Olympic torch to Rio de Janeiro in the 100-day run-up to the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the iconic Coca-Cola London Eye lit up in the colors of the Brazilian flag -- yellow and green -- at sunset on April 27.
Looking spectacular on London’s South Bank, the Brazil-themed illumination represented the first country in South America to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Brazil will welcome more than 10,000 Olympic and 4,000 Paralympic athletes to its best-known tourist destination, Rio de Janeiro. More than 70,000 volunteers will support the Games, with the UK sending the second-largest group of foreign volunteers.
Coca-Cola is a proud sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the longest-running Olympic sponsor since 1928. The Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be held Aug. 5-21 and the Paralympics from Sept. 7-18. Let the countdown begin!
