Singer Cody Simpson and Radio Disney host Alli Simpson made headlines in Rio de Janeiro on Friday with a brother-sister moment that was nothing short of gold. The Australian siblings invited fans to watch them run with the Olympic Flame in Rio's Ipanema Beach on the final day of the Olympic Torch Relay.
“It’s one of those things that falls so far outside of anything that you could ever imagine yourself being presented with… an opportunity like that is really one of those once in a lifetime opportunities,” Cody said.
Cody and Alli are part of Coca-Cola’s global group of #ThatsGold social media influencers for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Their role? To bring #ThatsGold Olympic moments to fans around the world by posting their experiences on social media and inviting their networks to join the fun.
Following the Olympic Torch Relay, the Simpson siblings attended the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony that night. The next day, they hit the pool to cheer on the Aussie swim team, many of whom are Cody’s mates. (Fun fact: Before his musical career took off, he was a competitive swimmer, winning two gold medals at the Queensland Swimming Championships.)
