After a semester long independent study on George Washington Carver to support a local history museum, Tuskegee University student Irene Jones was prompted to recreate some of the dishes in Carver's bulletins from the early-1900s. After several unsuccessful attempts, Irene was inspired to come up with a dish of her own.
- 1.5 Pound shrimp (de-veined)
- 1 Teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.25 Teaspoon sugar

Season shrimp with garlic powder, and a dash of sugar.
Use chopped onion if you prefer.
Heat wok or large frying pan with oil until it is hot enough to pass the "sizzle" test.
Pat shrimp dry before adding to the pan and continue stirring as it browns slightly.
Pour about a half cup of
Coca-Colainto the pan. Lower the heat and let simmer for about 2 minutes. Do not overcook.
