Our Archives team has been working with Coca-Cola Belgium for the past six months to curate an exhibit to celebrate our 125th anniversary. Working with the curatorial staff of the Design Museum and Liesbeth Denys of Coca-Cola Belgium, Stephanie Nestor, (our summer intern,) Justine Fletcher and I devoted hours to artifact selection, label copy and packing the items for shipping.
When I arrived in Gent yesterday, I was excited to see what an amazing job the Design Museum staff and exhibit designers had done to display the material. One of the most interesting features of the gallery is the team created a huge Coca-Cola script logo on the walls and cases. When you stand at one spot on the floor, the script looks perfect. If you move over a few feet, it is still recognizable as the logo, but it is less clear. Another highlight is a fantastic 1950 delivery truck painted the bright Coca-Cola yellow. A local collector loaned that item to the museum.
I have attached a few photos of the exhibit, but as you can see, the staff was still busily installing preparing for the media tour and opening that will take place today. I will post more photos from the opening.
