Last month, LeBron James and street artist Futura joined Sprite in LeBron’s hometown of Akron, Ohio, to surprise the local community by unveiling two refurbished outdoor basketball courts at Patterson Park. On Thursday, Oct. 30, Sprite will release a new TV spot capturing the emotional homecoming.

The courts had not been touched in more than 25 years. The refurbishment included resurfacing the courts, installing new benches, basketball hoops and art by Futura. Little did the community know that the event was part of a digital video production titled "The First Home Game." The video features LeBron interacting with the people in his hometown and sharing his inspiration for returning to Cleveland.

"We’ve been with LeBron since the beginning, and we’re looking forward to the next chapter in his illustrious career," said Kimberly Paige, associate vice president, Sprite Brands, Coca-Cola North America. "LeBron’s decision to come home embodies the Sprite brand's Obey Your Thirst mantra, and we’re proud to help tell the story of his return to Northeast Ohio."

On Thursday, the 30-second ad will debut during TNT's broadcast of LeBron’s first game of the season. The 90-second video is now available below and on the Sprite brand's YouTube channel.

Fans can follow the social conversation and join Sprite in highlighting LeBron’s homecoming using the hashtags #firsthomegame and #obeyyourthirst.

In honor of LeBron James’s homecoming, Sprite is unveiling a commemorative 12-oz. can (available in 6-pack), emblazoned with the superstar’s likeness. The limited-edition six-packs saluting LeBron’s return home will be available in advance of his team’s home opener. Beginning this week across Ohio, fans can visit participating local convenience and retail stores to purchase their own Sprite six-pack of the specially-designed, collectible cans, while supplies last.
