Lunches with Love -- The Open Happiness Project

By  Coca-Cola Canada 5,806 Views

Coca-Cola partnered with Lunches with Love, an organization spearheaded by Nathan Unrau which makes paper bag lunches in support of Winnipeg's homeless shelters. Since Lunches with Love relies 100% on donated goods, together, Coca-Cola and Lunches with Love executed a 2 day initiative to generate awareness and reach more of the city's homeless. On Day 1, Lunches with Love volunteers and Open Happiness brand ambassadors distributed 1,000 reusable lunch bags with a magnet inside that acted as a call to action to donate. On Day 2, an army of Lunches with Love volunteers and Open Happiness Ambassadors made 2,000 lunches, distributing to 4 different Missions in Winnipeg.

The timeless wisdom of Bharathiyaar’s poetry sung by Vidya HariKrishna serves as a bridge across time to express ideas about freedom & justice. Bharathiyaar’s ancient poetry, words & ideas remain as potent & relevant to this day. Rajesh & Tony represent modern Tamil poetry. The rap lyrics describes this generations’ life before and after getting freedom with a reflection of today’s reality. Viveick Rajgopalan’s Konakkol & Mridangam bring a rhythmic & narrative complexity that’s unique to Carnatic music. Ram Sampath celebrates his own South Indian Tamil & Carnatic music roots in this creation. The stories of Pabuji Rathore have been recited by the Bhopa community of Rajsthan for centuries through the Phad -a style religious scroll painting. These recitals take place all night long. Pabuji is believed to be the incarnation of Laxman, brother of Ram. Communities in Rajasthan worship him as the Protector of camels and other domesticated animals. This song is a part of Pabuji’s wedding story; when he was leaving his village with his baraat to Amarkot (in Pakistan now) a lady from the Charan community, Deval blocked his way and questioned him regarding safety of the village and the fort. Pabuji assures her in his own way to not worry and that he would protect them. Bhavari Devi’s brilliant & strong vocals are joined by her son Krishna who sings additional parts to this folk song , these parts sung by Krishna are composed by Ram Sampath & written by Munna Dhiman, in a song that celebrates roots , traditions & the beauty of Rajsthan . Darshan Doshi plays a complex drum & bass groove to perfection in this Ram Sampath juxtaposition of the ancient & the new.
