A good rule to remember is if it’s a Coca-Cola bottle or can - it can be recycled for money.
The plastic used to create all Coca-Cola bottles is polyethylene terephthalate (PET). This is a high-quality plastic and has great recycling potential.
Aluminium drink cans and glass bottles are recyclable too and widely accepted by Container Deposit Schemes (CDS) around Australia. Check out this video to find out more about how CDS work.
Some drink containers, such as wine or milk bottles are not accepted by every CDS. The best way to know what containers your local CDS accepts is to check out their website. To help, here is a list of guides by state:
- NSW Return and Earn
- SA Container Deposit Scheme
- QLD Containers for Change
- WA Container Deposit Scheme (from June 2020)
- NT Container Deposit Scheme
