Issue to be addressed

Globally marine pollution in both the ocean and inland waterways is one of the most pressing environmental concerns of our time. This grant opportunity focuses on Australian coastal and inland waterways.

In the application organisations must:

  • Propose a program that addresses the issue of marine pollution in coastal and / or inland waterways in Australia;
  • Demonstrate how this program is a creative solution for protecting and enhancing waterway sustainability; and
  • Demonstrate how this program will help address the UN Sustainable Development Goal.

Life Below Water

By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution.

The purpose of this Sustainable Development Goal is to sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems from pollution, with as much as 40% of the ocean heavily affected by pollution and impacts of other human activities.
