It’s been a busy summer for Four Year Strong. The Massachusetts band released their latest EP Go Down In History in July, and spent the following months finishing off their fourth Vans Warped Tour.

Now off the road and preparing to work on some new music, the band put together our latest artist-curated playlist on Spotify, and met with us for a quick chat to talk tour life and sweat pants.

1.You’ve just finished the VANS Warped Tour, any shows in particular that stood out?

Our hometown show in MA is always one of the most fun dates of the tour. We had a great crowd, we had our family and friends out to hang and it was all around just a great day. I even had my 2 dogs come spend the day with me while I was so close to home. Couldn't ask for much more than that!

2. It was your fourth time playing the tour, you must have some stories… What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on the road?

We never have crazy stories. We get asked this question a lot in interviews and I feel like people are always disappointed with the answer. We are boring. Plain and simple. We like to go to the movies and dinner dates on tour with each other. The craziest night I had on Warped Tour was probably one night where I decided not to put my sweatpants on until 11pm. Man I'm crazy.

3. You released your most recent record Go Down In History EP  In July – how were the new songs received live?

The songs have been amazing live. So fun to play, so fun to watch the crowd learn the song as its happening. A lot of people don't have the record yet because it’s so new, so it was really cool to watch people start to get into the song and realize that they like it (or hate it). Over all it went really really well.

4. Talk us through the songs on your Spotify playlist and why you chose them?

We picked a variety of songs from different genres of music to showcase the different tastes and influences of Four Year Strong. There are classics like Beach Boys or Ramones and then our friends and bands we've shared the stage with like The Starting Line, Saves The Day, and Fireworks. It's a broad playlist that has a song for every occasion.

5. We believe that happiness is better shared; please can you pick a song from your playlist and tell us who you’d like to share it with?

A song that we'd like to share with all our fans from our playlist is Motion City Soundtracks' "Everything Is Alright" It's a song that we think everyone can relate to different degrees because it describes different emotions while still emphasizing that Everything Is Alright.

6. Lastly, what’s next for you now the dust has settled on the tour?

I'm going to enjoy my time with my family and keep fixing up my house that I just bought at the beginning of the year. Got a lot of work on my hands. I'm also going to continue to work on some new FYS music with the rest of the guys and hopefully get back into the studio soon! We are just so stoked on the new EP and how well its going over that we want to keep it coming.
