A popular Coca-Cola Life commercial has made Adweek’s list of the 10 Best Ads of 2014.

The 60-second ad from Coca-Cola Argentina, produced by the Buenos Aires-based agency Santo, chronicles the joys and pains of parenting. After premiering in December 2013, “Ser Padres (Parenthood)” quickly went viral, garnering international media acclaim, millions of YouTube views and countless social media shares.

The spot opens with a young couple discovering they’re expecting their first child, then captures the sleeplessness, stains, shenanigans -- and indescribable love and affection -- that soon follow. In the closing scene, mom reappears, mouth agape, with news that baby No. 2 is on the way. A faithful remake of the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” appropriately serves as the soundtrack. Watch it here.

“A million ads have tackled the highs and lows of first-time parenting, but none quite so magnificently as this,” Adweek writes. “Simple, adorable and completely relatable, it's classic Coke and the best family ad we've seen in a long time.”

The spot promotes Coca-Cola Life, a new low-calorie cola naturally sweetened with stevia leaf extract and sugar. The product is currently available in Argentina, Chile, Great Britain, Mexico, Sweden and the United States.

Sebastian Wilhelm, creative director at Santo, said his team was aiming for “emotional comedy” to mirror Coca-Cola Life's honest, optimistic tone of voice.

“It’s not easy to do, but when done right, it’s really effective,” he adds. “When you can inspire two emotions at the same time -- and you don’t know whether to laugh or cry -- that’s magic.” Read more.
