The Coca-Cola Company again received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality.

The company joins the ranks of 366 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. The 2015 CEI rated 971 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices, including: non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.

The Coca-Cola Company’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria have resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality by HRC every year since 2006.

To enhance our culture of diversity and inclusion, enabling our associates to bring their whole selves to work, we partner with leading organizations, such as HRC, to provide guidance on best practices in the workplace. For example, our U.S.-based LGBT associates are able to voluntarily self-identify. In 2011, we announced our Workplace Gender Transition Guidelines for U.S.-based associates, and we offer transgender-inclusive medical coverage. Sexual orientation is incorporated in our spokesperson/entertainment guidelines.  

Most recently, we announced that, effective Jan. 1, 2015, the company will help defray the cost of taxes imposed on all eligible active U.S. employees whose same-sex spouse or partner is enrolled in health benefits and who live in states that do not recognize same-sex marriage by providing a "tax gross-up."

Once again, Coca-Cola supported and our associates participated in numerous events in communities across the country, including LGBT Pride parades, AIDS walks and runs, the 2014 Gay Games as a Gold Level partner, and the 2014 National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association Conference as a Presenting Sponsor. In partnership with GLAAD Atlanta, we proudly painted our website purple, and associates wore purple on “Spirit Day” to take a stand against bullying and to support the LGBT community. The LGBTA Business Resource Group also worked closely with HRC and the Coca-Cola political action committee to help ensure invited guest speakers align with our Company’s values of diversity and inclusion.

The company expanded our marketing to include two dads with their child in Our America the Beautiful ad.  Additional LGBT-specific marketing has been developed for rollout in 2015.
