Giving Season: Coke Associates Help at Santa’s Village

For more than a decade, during the holiday, Coca-Cola associates and their families have volunteered to help out at The Empty Stocking Fund’s Santa’s Village. The Empty Stocking Fund provides children living in poverty in surrounding metro Atlanta communities with gifts at Christmas time. Santa’s Village is The Empty Stocking Fund’s toy distribution center for residents of DeKalb and Fulton counties.

Volunteering at Santa’s Village gave the Southeast Region Leadership team a way to bring our families together to help our community,” said Susanne Hall, Senior Vice President, Southeast Region Sales for Coca-Cola Refreshments. “We are thankful for the opportunity to deliver toys and spread holiday cheer to so many families. We enjoyed our day at Santa’s Village and want to do it again.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, there were over 80 Coca-Cola associates and family members that participated in the “Coke Volunteer Day” at Santa’s Village. Volunteer activities included guest registration, gift processing and distribution. There were thousands of families that received gifts and volunteers handled the task with ease.

I volunteer because I am one of nine children and I remember how hard it was when I was growing up. I like to volunteer just to give back” said, Sharon Smith Harris, Support Specialist II, Coca-Cola.

There were lots of smiles that day and it wasn’t just the guests. Volunteers had fun talking to families, finding children the perfect gifts and sharing the experience with their loved ones. While each Coca-Cola associates’ reason for volunteering will differ, their involvement in this event brought happiness to many families.

The reason I volunteer is to give back to children that are less fortunate so they can have a nice Christmas. A lot of people won’t have Christmas gifts this year and Coca-Cola is a part of providing gifts to families in need so they can have a wonderful holiday” said, James Glen, Guest Relations, Coca-Cola.
