Through a partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association, Coca-Cola is helping communities across the U.S. improve their parks and recreation facilities. With Coca-Cola’s help, the Miami community recently came together to celebrate renovations to one of their most widely used parks, Shenandoah Park.

The Miami community recently came together to celebrate renovations to Shenandoah Park, one of the most widely-used parks in the City of Miami Parks and Recreation system. New fitness equipment, playground updates and upgrades to the tennis court were made possible through a valued partnership between the City of Miami and The Coca-Cola Company.

Through the years, it has been a pleasure to witness firsthand how the partnership between our Administration and Coca-Cola can unite neighbors and strengthen our community, particularly when it comes to inspiring activity and getting people moving.

To show our appreciation for this collaboration, Florida Surgeon General Dr. John H. Armstrong and Commissioner Francis Suarez were on site at the Coca-Cola Family Field Day, a free event featuring field day challenges, games, music and dancing, to present a Proclamation on my behalf recognizing Coca-Cola for their commitment to the Miami community.

Together we selected Shenandoah Park because it provides a variety of programs for all ages and is one of the most-frequented parks in Miami. Thanks to the grant, which was administered with the help of the National Recreation and Park Association, Miamians will be able to enjoy the updated and new equipment for youth, teens and adults. Beyond the renovations, Coca-Cola also provided a Grant for new fitness programs and expansion of the Park’s tennis program, which will help inspire even more residents to have fun getting active together.

These improvements are fundamental to the neighborhood and upholding the legacy of Shenandoah Park, which has such a rich history. My family and I share many fond memories of visiting Shenandoah Park, especially when my now grown children were young. And I know the families that have lived in the neighborhood for decades consider this park to be a community landmark. I’m thrilled this collaboration will help ensure Shenandoah Park remains a point of pride for the neighborhood and address local resident requests for increased access to fitness and well-being programming.

I look forward to seeing the impact these renovations and programs will have on the community. As this partnership continues to grow, so too will the well-being of the City of Miami.
