Less than a year after winning first place at the outdoor track, indoor track and cross country nationals in the 1500m, 3000m and 3k events, Lauryn Heskin shows no signs of slowing down.
This spring, she was selected by NBC to be featured alongside U.S. Olympians Ashton Eaton, David Boudia and Missy Franklin in a promotional video “Inspired by Greatness” for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Featured alongside other Olympic athletes and Olympic hopefuls in the NBC video, Lauryn shows a snapshot of the dedication and training it takes to prepare to become an Olympian—a dream she hopes will become a reality in the coming years.
The spot debuted June 25 on NBC and aired on NBC and NBCSN throughout the Olympic Trials coverage. Watch it here:
After winning gold at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Virginia last summer, Lauryn has since captured her 17th national title, her 27th All-American title, and won the USA Track and Field Long Island Youth Female Athlete of the Year award for the fourth year in a row. She also currently holds three national records, including two world records.
With such an impressive resume, it’s difficult to believe Lauryn is just 12 years old.
