From providing improved access to clean drinking
water and sanitation, to augmenting ground water with rainwater harvesting
techniques and solid waste management, Coca-Cola and UN-HABITAT have been
collaborating since 2007 to build sustainable communities. Launched by
Coca-Cola India, this now-global partnership not only improves access to safe
water and sanitation, but also mobilizes stakeholders from government, business
and civil society to come together and promote water and well-being.
Of particular note is the award-winning initiative, “Support My School.” In 2011, with other critical partners,Coca-Cola and UN-HABITAT launched the unique campaign to
develop healthier, happier and more active schools in rural and semi-urban
towns by improving basic amenities and subsequently generating monetary
resources to foster learning environments for students in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.
The partners, targeting to positively benefit more than 1 million people through multiple programs and initiatives, are working in 12 countries across Asia and Africa: India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Bhutan and Southern Sudan.
