It’s official: the Olympic Games will return to Tokyo in 2020. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) voted on Saturday to select Tokyo over the other two host city contenders, Madrid and Istanbul.

Tokyo hosted the 1964 Summer Olympic Games. Two other cities in Japan – Sapporo and Nagano – hosted the Winter Games in 1972 and 1998, respectively.
