This summer is all about being active
Currently, Veterans Memorial Park in Moore, OK is leading the pack. But there’s still time to help your park get to the top. The park with the most votes by July 15 will win a $100,000 recreation grant and the title of “America’s Favorite Park.”
There are tons of ways you can still get involved in the campaign, but it starts with getting active. The more you move, the more votes you can earn for your park. Whether you’re “checking in” from the park, logging your activity on MapMyFitness or voting online, it all counts. Give your park a boost around Fourth of July (July 4 and 5) and the last weekend of voting (July 13 and 14), when votes will be doubled!
In addition to the first place grant, parks that come in second- and third-place will receive $50,000 and $25,000 grants, respectively. There will also be a $15,000 grant awarded at random to a park that places in one of the remaining top 25 spots.
If you think your park is too small or the improvements needed are too big, think again! Here’s what past winners have done with the grant:
- 2012 first-place winner Pratt Park in Prattsville, AL will break ground this summer on a family-friendly splash pad
- Wildcard winner Swift-Cantrell Park in Kennesaw, GA used their $15,000 grant in 2012 to install exercise stations along park trials to help improve the health of residents
- Oak Park (Minot, ND) and Cunningham Park (Joplin, MO) were both damaged by natural disasters in 2011. The grants were used to help rebuild these parks so people can be active together again.
Your vote could make the difference, so get up, get out and get active in your favorite park today! Visit Coke.com/Parks today to learn how to turn activity into votes…and then “Take It To The Park!”
