We offer beverages in a variety of packaging formats to give consumers more choices.

These formats include glass and plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and refillable packaging. Each option can help reduce packaging waste and associated emissions.

We’re focused on using more recycled material in our primary packaging and supporting the collection and recycling of beverage packaging, both of which depend on enabling policies and the growth of collection and recycling   infrastructure. We also continue to invest in refillable bottles.

Our Goals

  • We aim to use 35% to 40% recycled material in primary packaging (plastic, glass and aluminum), including increasing recycled plastic use to 30% to 35% globally by 2035.

  • Help ensure the collection of 70% to 75% of the equivalent number of bottles and cans introduced into the market annually by 2035.

The collection and recycling of beverage packaging remains challenging, as every state and country has unique systems, infrastructure, regulatory environments and sets of consumer behaviors. Collective action is needed to support packaging collection and recycling infrastructure and policies.

An Integrated Approach

The Coca‑Cola system is focused on measurable and interconnected actions under two pillars: Design and Partner to Collect.

Integrated approach

Design

Almost all (99%1) of our primary consumer packaging is recyclable, and we are working on the remaining packages.

1 - Excludes cups for fountains and dispensed solutions, which are mainly purchased by customers.

Partner to Collect

Through collaboration with local and global partners, we continue to explore new collection models and improve existing ones, investing in local infrastructure and engaging with policymakers.
