How to Recycle Your Bottle or Can

By properly recycling bottles and cans, we can help sustain a circular economy where we can source more recycled material to use in future packaging. Using recycled material reduces the use of new material, decreases carbon emissions and accelerates progress towards our World Without Waste goals. instead of making new plastic reduces up to 71% of emissions.

100% Recycled Plastic Bottles in the U.S.

Coca‑Cola North America has transitioned a selection of plastic bottles across the portfolio to 100% recycled plastic (excluding cap and label). The introduction of bottles made from 100% recycled plastic* advance the company’s ambitions to reduce virgin packaging and offer sustainable solutions at scale.

Our 100% recycled PET* bottles in the U.S. include:

  • 20oz bottles across Coca‑Cola trademark throughout 11 major U.S. markets including Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle and Dallas.
  • All individual 20-ounce, 1-liter and 1.5-liter DASANI bottles and 10-ounce and 12-ounce multipacks nationwide.

Plastic, especially PET, is among the most highly valued recyclable materials because it can be remade to make new bottles.  No new plastic (PET) is used in the creation of bottles made from 100% recycled plastic* (rPET) – all thanks to consumers who recycle, thus contributing to the circular economy of plastic and reducing waste.

This innovation contributes to two of our World Without Waste goals of using 50% recycled content in our packaging by 2030 and reducing our use of virgin plastic derived from non-renewable sources by a cumulative 3 million metric tons by 2025.

World Without Waste.

The interconnected challenges of packaging waste and climate change is an issue our company is taking a leadership position on. Along with our bottling partners, we’re taking a hard look at the packaging we use and how we can drive change to achieve a circular economy where materials we use in our packaging are not only made from recycled materials, but are recycled and used again in new packaging.

We launched World Without Waste in 2018 which centers around three primary goals:

Design

Make 100% of our packaging recyclable globally by 2025. Use at least 50% recycled material in our packaging by 2030.

New Sustainable Packaging Design

Collect

Collect and recycle a bottle or can for each one we sell by 2030.
