Uber and Lyft trips in Atlanta are about to be a little more refreshing.

Coca‑Cola is partnering with Cargo Systems Inc. – a provider of in-car goods and services for the rideshare economy – to offer glaceau smartwater with participating drivers in its hometown of Atlanta.

Atlanta-based passengers can order complimentary smartwater through a digital menu on the Cargo mobile app, which also includes snacks and essentials like phone chargers. Once the vehicle comes to a safe stop, the driver will hand the passenger their products.

John Carroll, VP/GM, eCommerce, Coca‑Cola North America, said the pilot is part of the company’s broader strategy to find new routes to market based on consumer trends.

“We’re very excited to enter this new distribution channel in rideshare with Cargo,” Carroll said. “Cargo offers an innovative solution to helping Coca‑Cola deliver refreshment to consumers in their moment of need in a space that was previously hard to reach at scale. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact we have on rideshare passengers when they find our product within arm’s reach when using Uber and Lyft.”

According to Cargo, the service can help rideshare drivers earn up to $500 more per month in commissions, referrals and performance bonuses.

The partnership with Coke launches as Cargo enters the Atlanta market. The company has a presence in New York, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington D.C. and Baltimore. Cargo will reach more than 25 million passengers across 20,000 vehicles in 2018.
