Thirteen street artists from across the globe come together for art collision at live celebration of creativity in Budapest

BUDAPEST, Monday July 29, 2013 - A collective of thirteen global street artists from different cultures and backgrounds across the world gathered to take part in a creative collision at burn Yard™ Live this weekend. Led by Polish street artist M-City, the artists have collaborated over the last week to transform a former industrial building in Budapest from a crumbling shell into an artists’ canvas of images. The artwork formed the backdrop for a live celebration of creativity featuring the world’s leading DJs, F1® drivers and action sports athletes.

burn Yard™ Live saw the unveiling of creative projects from a year long program called burn Yard™. Aiming to bring a new creative energy to discarded, obsolete objects and make them beautiful again, the artists collaborated to transform the space with graffiti, street art murals and digital projections. Set against their backdrop of artistic collision, the event itself showcased contributions from some of the world’s leading artists and creatives including international DJ Avicii, Lotus F1® Team driver Kimi Räikkönen and street artist M-City.

The street artists, brought together from countries all around the world, were tasked with breathing life into the derelict market hall before a thousand-strong crowd descended on burn Yard™ Live. Throughout the venue, an array of stranded vehicles were brought back to life by Hungarian artist Bázis, Romanian duo Saddo + Aitch along with fellow Romanian Suflo. Two crumbling walls were transformed into feature walls by Sergey and Kirill from Russia’s Zuk Club as well as French artists 2Shy and Faker. World renowned guest artist duo Stylus lent their unique blend of street art and projection to the venue’s walls and the main stage, featuring a repurposed tram carriage, was designed by Dilk.

M-City commented: “We are a Collective of street artists who set out years ago to make a point and to make a difference with our art. Now, years later, burn has brought us together, from countries all around the world, and we can celebrate our art and celebrate creativity together. The culture of street art is becoming more and more expressive and experiments like this, where we are working together, will hopefully help us to inspire others to explore their own forms of expression too.”

M-City, famous for his distinctly industrial murals on walls in major cities across Europe, collaborated with fellow Polish street artist Dezmond to bring together their different styles on a feature wall 8m tall and 44m wide. While M-City uses stencils to create industrial landscapes over giant spaces, Dezmond developed his unique style studying architecture. Together, the two artists have created an homage to industrialism, breathing new life into their derelict canvas.

Prinz M. Pinakatt, Global Director Sports & Entertainment Marketing, The Coca‑Cola Company said, “We are a team of artistic scientists at burn and burn Yard Live was our experiment. We brought together the world’s best artists from different countries working in different mediums with different styles and we let them create something new. This event may have taken place in Budapest but these walls and these stranded vehicles are a snapshot of creativity on a global scale.”

The burn Yard™ program aims to nurture and inspire creative talent and provide a platform to showcase ground-breaking ideas. The creative processes leading up to burn Yard™ Live have been documented in a behind-the-scenes video series. The first episode of the video series will premier at www.youtube.com/burn on August 5, 2013.
